WhatsApp will no longer support these phones in 2017

Only one month left before WhatsApp will no longer support outdated smartphones. WhatsApp made this announcement on their blog in February 2016.

List of WhatsApp unsupported smartphones in 2017:

  • BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10
  • Nokia S40
  • Nokia Symbian S60
  • Android 2.1 and Android 2.2
  • Windows Phone 7
  • iPhone 3GS/iOS 6

However an update on the same blog informs us that BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, Nokia S40 and Nokia Symbian S60 will be supported until June 30, 2017 while iPhone 3GS, Windows Phone 7 and Android 2.1 and 2.2 devices will only be supported until January 01, 2017.

,,Unfortunately, after 01/01/2017, you won’t be able to use WhatsApp on this phone as WhatsApp will no longer support it. Learn more about what options you have and how to switch to a supported phone. “

Although my iPhone 3GS will not support WhatsApp, I will not upgrade to a newer smartphone very soon unless I find a very good deal.

If you know any alternative messaging app worth switching to, please share it in the comment section below.

  1. As sadly as it sounds, seems Microsoft finally declared that the Windows Phone is dead.
Too bad, I liked it. If more apps would of been developed to attract the people, maybe it would of had a different future.
